Overview

Flexible aerogel blankets are evaluated where installation space, water exposure and geometry make conventional insulation difficult. High-temperature and cryogenic blanket grades serve different service windows.

Blanket performance depends on the grade, thickness, jacket, compression, joints and the complete insulation-system design.

Handling / storage

  • Keep blanket edges, joints and penetrations coordinated with the system design.
  • For cold service, review vapor-barrier and mechanical-protection requirements before installation.

Selection limits

  • Do not use the high-temperature and cryogenic figures interchangeably.
  • Service temperature does not establish a complete process, fire or corrosion-under-insulation design.

Which blanket is suitable for low-temperature service?

The cryogenic route must be selected against the operating temperature, vapor-barrier design and equipment geometry.

Can the blanket replace a full insulation specification?

No. Thickness, jacketing, joints, supports and environmental exposure must be evaluated as a complete system.
